MEET Holly & Grant

Welcome to Travel Tuesday! It’s my goal every Tuesday to share a post with you about some adventure my fiance and partner in crime, Grant, and I go on! So welcome to the very first Travel Tuesday blog post!

Every couple of weeks my fiance Grant and I love to travel. On my off weekends when I don’t have weddings or sessions, we pick a state or national Park and go for a hike. Our favorites usually include waterfalls and steep hikes with good climbs, but every once in a while we like to head into the big ole’ city. A few weeks ago, we did just that!

Both of us have only ever been to Philly when we were little – Grant for a school field trip in elementary school, and I went with my family on a boy scout trip when I was around thirteen. Neither of us remembered much of what we saw so we wanted to do it again, as adults.

How we started:

  • We took a train (for the first time!) and it was a lot easier than we thought it would be! Pro tip: don’t be late when you go to a train station! Those trains are timed perfectly, and if you’re off by even a minute you won’t make your train! We thankfully were there half an hour early on our way in, and about an hour early on our way out. It was an easy enough ride and took about an hour and a half to get into Philly.
  • We also took an Uber for the first time, and that was really simple. Our driver dropped us off at the liberty bell, and then from there we walked around the city. We went to the Constitutional Museum, the Benjamin Franklin Museum and the Philadelphia art Museum. Unfortunately, most of the free museums were closed because it was a holiday but we were still about to get into some good ones.
  • As we walked the city, we took our time to see a lot of different things. We also went to the Reading Terminal for lunch and at at the Hunger Burger. I cannot recommend the Hunger Burger enough! Not only do they donate food when you purchase a burger, but their burgers were AMAZING. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. Their lobster mac n cheese was also pretty great.

Philadelphia was relatively easy to walk through, and my Fitbit read 11 miles by the time we sat on the train to go home! But before we did, we walked from the LOVE sign to the Rocky Steps and of course got our picture there. The museum was incredible, and it easily could have taken us four hours to go through it! Unfortunately, we didn’t have that much time.

So, as a wrap up of our day, take a scroll through and look at all our photos from the day!

When I was looking for someone to bring a vision of a country cowboy session to life, Kara jumped at the chance. I was so excited to get these two in front of my camera! They are the most laid-back, joyful people, and it was so fun hanging with them to photograph these sweet photos. […]

Tania and Fred emailed me a few weeks ago in hopes of getting a maternity session in before they welcomed their little girl into the world! When I asked Tania what she wanted for her session she said “Grass and fields”. I think we were able to deliver on that at the beautiful park where […]

I love photographing seniors, and Libby was no exception. She has the sweetest and kindest heart, and is following in her mom’s footsteps to become a nurse. The best thing about Libby was that she just glowed talking about how excited she was to start her career and to start making a change in the […]

This engagement session was a special one. Leah and Jordan are tying the knot this summer at Camp YoliJwa, a place near and dear to my heart. We spent this cloudy afternoon getting to know each other and how they met – through mutual friends – while wandering around Caledonia State Park. It was a […]
