MEET Holly & Grant

The week of the wedding is one of the most exciting weeks ever! It can be the fastest or the slowest week of your life as an eager bride. But here are ten things you should make sure you do the week of your wedding.

  1. Test drive the full look. Try on your dress, do your hair and makeup and make sure everything looks good and ready for the big day.
  2. Break in your shoes. One of the worst things is wearing new shoes and getting blisters, so make sure you wear your shoes in beforehand! You don’t want to be limping around after your ceremony because your heels were too painful for you.
  3. Get your ring cleaned. And then don’t wear it! Your photographer (and your future self) will thank you when you look back at a sparkly ring in your detail photos instead of a dull one.
  4. Finalize seating chart. You may have had someone cancel on you last minute, so just double check to make sure you haven’t missing anyone or have any gaping holes at tables.
  5. Double check your marriage license. And make sure someone has it ready to go!
  6. Answer any last minute emails and set up your “I’m away!” automated response. If you’re a busy person or a business person, make sure any emails are all answered and ready to go a few days before your day. You aren’t going to want to be answering emails the day after your wedding because you forgot about a big project at work.
  7. Prepare payments + gratuities. Write the checks for your vendors including gratuities, and make sure someone has them ready to go for your day. Put them in envelopes and pack them into your day of necessities.
  8. Pack an emergency kit. Make sure you have bobby pins, double sided stick tape, bandaids, glue, needle and thread, nail file, hair spray and hair bands, tampons or pads, pain killers, and extra make-up.
  9. Make sure you’re packed for the honeymoon! Take a day to go over your bags to make sure you aren’t missing anything for your trip. Double check boarding passes, passports, and emergency items.
  10. Lastly, get plenty of sleep & eat your vitamins! Your nerves will be running SUPER high this week. So make sure you take time to go to bed early and sleep in a little. It won’t do you good to be exhausted and sleep deprived on the day of your wedding. Stress leads to a weakened immune system and that makes you much more susceptible to getting sick. Sleep, drink water, and take your vitamins!

Lauren, Levi, and Lukas joined me for the most wonderful morning on their family farm. We had so much fun chasing chickens, driving through their back fields, and hanging out in their house with their pups. They are expecting their second little one any day now and we cannot wait for them to arrive!

Dan and Tori chose downtown Harrisburg for their winter January engagement session. we started out at the Harrisburg capital outside before making our way inside. It was the first time we’ve ever photographed an engagement session inside the capital and it was so fun! Last summer we photographed our first wedding inside the rotunda, but […]

Micah + Ginny are some of our dearest friends. We’ve known Micah since we were kids, and Ginny since they made in 2020. We photographed their engagement, and their wedding, and last weekend we photographed their maternity photos. Soon, we’ll photograph their little babe! We love these two people dearly — it was such an […]

Logan + Makayla chose Camp YoliJwa in Doubling Gap as the background for their engagement session. We had a breezy beautiful fall day and managed to get the last of the fall colors before the leaves all fell. It was been an honor to be friends with these two throughout the years, watching them grow […]
