MEET Holly & Grant

When you get engaged it’s a whirlwind of exciting moments! You finally have that ring on your finger, and forever can finally start! Yay! However, entering that super exciting time of being engaged also means that you and your future spouse have a lot of decisions to make. What kind of cake you want, what venue you want to get married at, what the color theme is going to be, etc, etc. It can be super overwhelming the first time you sit down and start thinking about all of these things!

One of the most important decisions you’ll make for your wedding is going to be your wedding photographer. And I’m not just saying that because I am one! I’m saying that from a client perspective. How many things actually last past your wedding day? The cake gets eaten, the flowers die, you never wear your dress again, and the extra favors all get thrown out. So what actually lasts, other than the marriage that you are building with your spouse? Your photos! So it’s crucial to have a photographer that not only takes good images that will stand the test of time and always wow you when you look back on them, but also to find a photographer that you get along with. You’ll be spending more time with your photographer on your wedding day than you will be with your future spouse, so pick someone you’re compatible with!

How to pick a photographer:

  1. Find a style of photography you like. There are a TON of photographers out there! And that means a ton of styles too! There’s light and airy, natural light, and dark and moody. If you pick a style that you like to look at now, chances are you’ll still like that style several years in the future.
  2. Find a photographer who’s morals and standards meet yours! You don’t want to find a photographer that doesn’t believe in the same things you do. If you do, it might make it challenging on the wedding day, or even during the engagement session.
  3. Choose a photographer who likes similar things or get’s along with you. Have a video chat with them, or meet them in person to see if you actually connect!
  4. Lastly, pick a photographer who wants to be there for you, and not just for the photos. Developing a connection and relationship with your photographer from day one will be a blessing to both of you! And a potential friend in the future.

There are so many amazing photographers out there, it can be daunting to pick one. But take your time, and once you find one, don’t wait to book! Popular dates usually book quickly, so don’t hesitate to get the deposit in and relax. That’s one hard decision down!

Delaney chose Kings Gap as the location for her fall senior photos and boy was it a good choice! We had a beautiful afternoon walking around and chatting about her future dreams for life after high school. The fall leaves were the perfect background for her! Congratulations on getting so close to graduating, Delaney! You […]

It didn’t matter to Ginny and Micah where we went to get their family photos taken this year. We captured these photos in fifteen minutes in the woods in their backyard. We didn’t drive anywhere fancy and didn’t spend a long time doing them. But we grabbed moments of their life right in time where […]

Val and Matt have been friends of ours for years. Every year, sometime in late summer or early fall we set a date on the calendar, meet up, and photograph their sweet family! We’ve been doing this ever since they had their two amazing girls Libby and Lena, and it’s a tradition I am grateful […]

Last year I had the chance to photograph this adorable family in my favorite wildflower fields. And this year, I had the opportunity to photograph them at their house with their newest addition! Baby Cooper made the sweetest new little brother for Dorothy. She was so excited to show me her little brother the whole […]
